October 23rd: 7.30pm - Soloist biography

Sarah Williamson (clarinet)

Sarah Williamson was a finalist in the BBC Young Musician competition in 2002 in a highly individual performance of the Copland Clarinet Concerto with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Andrew Davis.

She then went on to win second prize in the Eurovision Competition for Young Musicians in Berlin, playing the Copland Concerto with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra.

She continued her studies in Paris graduating with the Premier Prix and a Laureate. She has since performed at festivals across the UK with debuts at Wigmore Hall and South Bank Centre. She has toured the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, USA, Ireland, Spain, Japan and Cyprus.

Orchestral appearances have been with Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields, City of London Sinfonia, Brighton Philharmonic and the Orchestra of the Swan. She has recorded her first CD for SOMM Recordings.
